A son of former Leitrim TD John Ellis has been nominated to contest the Fianna Fáil selection convention in Sligo-Leitrim.
While an official list of those nominated hasn’t been released, it’s understood Fenagh man Shane Ellis, whose father was a long-serving TD, is among five names chosen by members before last night’s deadline.
Former TD John Ellis has confirmed his son, Shane, will be allowing his name go forward.
Shane been a long-time activist with the party.
Cootehall-based councillor Rachel Doherty and Carrigallen-based councillor Paddy O’Rourke have been nominated and sitting TDs Marc MacSharry and Eamon Scanlon.
A selection convention will be held later this month, with three candidates set to be chosen.
