Save Leitrim hold protest in Dublin calling on Minister Doyle to see effects of afforestation for himself

Hundreds of concerned Leitrim residents are due to hold a protest outside the Dail later today (Thursday) in an effort to change government policies on forestry.

The Save Leitrim group a have organised several busloads of people to attend a rally at 11am on Kildare Street to demand Minister Andrew Doyle visit Leitrim to see the impact of forestry in the county. Concern has been expressed about the findings in a specially commissioned report published earlier this year that revealed that 19% of the county was afforested – the highest tree cover in the country.
