Motorists can expect delays through Carrick on Shannon from today as resurfacing works in the N4 get underway.
The works beginning today will involve all the carriageway, car parking areas, central island from the Bridge Street junction to the Shannon Lodge Roundabout.
They will be carried out from 5am to 5pm, traffic lights will be in operation. In a statement to Shannonside FM news, Leitrim County Council says it’s replacing the top macadam or wearing course, which has a life span of 20 years. Engineers say the failure in the top macadam surface was evident and demanded continued pothole repair over the last 3 years.
Regarding the scheduling of the project during the summer, the council says it’s being done now because of the warmer temperatures as macadam and any surface dressing thereafter is best constructed at higher ambient temperatures. The project is expected to take just under two weeks with an August 2nd completion date.
