River Shannon water levels drop in last 24 hours according to Leitrim Council

Leitrim County Council says the river Shannon has dropped by around three quarters of an inch over the last 24 hours.

The Emergency Management Team met this morning and council work crews continue to manage and operate the pumping programme in both Carrick-on-Shannon and Leitrim village.

Sand bags are also being provided by the crews as required.

No serious flooding issues have been reported in the last 24 hours in the Athlone area as regards housing and it’s hoped that levels on the Shannon will stabilise in the next couple of days.
