Public urged to view plans for River Shannon online rather than in person

Anyone who wishes to view plans for the River Shannon masterplan from Waterways Ireland is being urged to do so online.

The consultation, announced earlier this month is continuing until the end of April and people can view the documents, including the environmental report and draft tourism plan, on the Waterways Ireland website until the 22nd of next month.

Due to the Coronavirus crisis, WI is now asking people who may have been interested in seeing the plans at a specific location to contact Waterways Ireland in advance first and to observe all Covid-10 public precautions.

The public consultation is the next stage in the 18 month process to reposition the combined Shannon Navigation and Shannon Erne Waterway as a key tourism destination within Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.

Once consultation is complete, submissions will be reviewed and a final draft of the document will be issued.
