PODCAST: Plans revealed to develop biomass plant on Cavan-Leitrim border

With an ever-increasing demand for eco-friendly ways to provide heat, a Leitrim company is hoping it can make a big difference with plans for a new processing facility on the Cavan-Leitrim border.

McMorrow Harvesting which was established in 2002 was recently successful in securing grant aid under the Leader fund to help in buying a mobile wood chipper which will produce wood chip from timber which is not suitable for normal processing, and tree trimmings.

Gerry Mc Morrow says the customers for this product are not there in large numbers at present, but they expect demand to grow substantially in the next few years.
