Planning granted for €1m goods store in Carrick

Planning permission has been granted for a new homeware goods store at a renowned business premises in Carrick-on-Shannon.

About five years ago, Joe Simon Building Supplies, from Boyle, was given approval to change the use of Gilmartin’s Cash and Carry in the Dublin Road to a hardware retail store.

However, after deciding it was too small for that, he recently applied to again change its use, this time to a homeware goods store.

It’d include three bulky showroom display areas, with a coffee dock, play area and toilet facilities.

Leitrim County Council has given the plans the go-ahead, subject to ten conditions.

Construction website estimates the work will cost €1 million.
