New Sligo/Leitrim general election candidate hopes to bring youth to politics

The new Sligo Leitrim Fine Gael general election candidate says he hopes to bring youth and fresh thinking to politics in the region if he’s successful in taking a seat for the party.

Councillor Thomas Walsh who was elected for the first time at Mays local elections has also worked as a Dáil parliamentary assistant, and then a Ministerial Aide to former Fine Gael TD, John Perry.

He was announced last night as a running mate for Senator Frank Feighan at a meeting of the Fine Gael national executive.

The Ballygawley man says he has a good understanding of politics and believes that people do want to see some new faces in the next election.

He says he’s looking forward to the challenge of a general election and will be doing his utmost to secure a seat for the party.
