New Leitrim Garda chief welcomes mass cannabis seizures

The new chief superintendent of Sligo/Leitrim has welcomed the more than a half a million euros’ worth of cannabis growhouses that have been raided in the Carrick-on-Shannon and surrounding region this year.

Yesterday’s meeting of the Leitrim joint policing committee was provided with details of the notables seizures that have occurred in 2017.

More than €120,000’s worth of growhouses have been discovered in Carrick itself, while there have also been significant ones uncovered in Carrigallen, Aughavas and Knockvicar.

Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken says it’s a positive development.
