Further meeting planned in Ballinamore following engagement with Justice officials

A further public meeting is planned for residents of Ballinamore later this month after community representatives from the town meet justice department officials in the coming days.

Concerns have been raised that the Leitrim town, which has a population of around 900 people, will be unable to properly cope with the influx of over 100 asylum seekers at the beginning of November.

A meeting last night between the develop of the ‘Integration centre’ and locals revealed that the first group of asylum seekers who will be housed at the ‘open door’ accommodation, are due on November fourth.
