Manorhamilton group win overall Leitrim Environmental and Community award

A youth group from north Leitrim has been named the overall winner of the inaugural county Environmental and Community Awards 2017.

Approximately 200 people attended the ceremony in Carrick on Shannon last night, that saw over 12 groups from across the country recognised for their works in categories such as social inclusion, Best Estates and Cleaner and Greener.

Manorhamilton Girls Brigade was the overall winner, while Bornacoola development association took the top award in the community facility category.

John McGuinness, from the group, says the award is nice recognition for volunteers mostly unseen hard work :
