Tributes are being paid to the north Roscommon man who drowned near Leitrim village.
Patrick Moffatt, an employee of Waterways Ireland, died while examining a lock on the Shannon-Erne waterway yesterday afternoon.
Waterways Ireland has offered its sympathies to the Drumboylan man, aged in his fifties, describing him as an esteemed colleague.
At a Leitrim County Council meeting this afternoon, a prayer and minute’s silence of observed in his honour.
Councillor Enda Stenson, who knows the Moffatt family well, requested the gesture of sympathy.
