Local Sinn-Fein TD believes bullying claims in party are ‘nonsense’

Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny has described claims that a bullying culture is rife in Sinn Féin as ‘nonsense’.

The Aughavas man strongly defended his party after another member quit the party yesterday.

Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh resigned amid allegations of unacceptable behaviour and bullying.

However, Deputy Kenny says his resignation was because he calculated he wouldn’t win this weekend’s selection convention in Galway West to stand for the Dáil.

He denies there’s a serious problem with bullying in the party.
