Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says he’s happy to have been appointed as spokesperson for Justice and Equality for Sinn Féin.
The Aughavas native was formerly the spokesperson for agriculture and rural development for the party.
He says this experience will stand to him as many farmers “face injustice everyday” and that rural crime is something he considers an important issue.
Some people consider the appointment a promotion and Mr. Kenny admits the justice portfolio is broad and technical in nature.
Some of the key issues he plans to look at include the way crimes are investigated in Ireland, garda performance, and the drug problem in the country.
