A Leitrim man is due back in court in October following an alleged ‘machete’ attack in Carrick on Shannon over the weekend.
The 30-year-old was arrested on Saturday night in the town centre and was charged with possession of an offensive weapon at a special sitting of the District Court on Sunday following an alleged fight outside a chip-shop
It’s understood that gardaí used a newly operational CCTV system to identify the men involved and were able to react quickly.
Footage of the alleged incident has been shared on social media which shows a weapon, believed to be a machete or large knife, involved in the incident.
The accused, who has an address in Carrick-on-Shannon, is due back at the local district court again in October.
