Leitrim GP says ambulance delays can have devastating consequences

An ambulance took at least two hours to get to eight life-threatening emergencies in the first three months of this year.

According to freedom of information figures, the longest response time was 2 hours and 53 minutes to an incident in Cork.

It took an ambulance more than an hour to get to a further 255 critical cases between January and March.
