Leitrim GAA Chairman Enda Stenson says he’s hugely proud of the major effort being undertaken by members throughout the county during the current Covid-19 emergency.
There are a total of 24 clubs across Leitrim and each has put forward the names of 5 to 10 or 12 people who are willing to bring shopping, prescriptions or whatever is needed to people who are older or may be living alone.
The GAA Chairman who’s also a long serving member of Leitrim County Council says the organisations volunteers were already up and running to give help to people during this crisis but they were more than happy to liase under the umbrella of the council when Minister Eoghan Murphy announced the establishment of the Covid-19 Community Response Forums last week.
Enda Stenson says the GAA is uniquely positioned to be aware of who might need help in any parish across the county, and he believes no one is being left behind in this response.
The GAA Chairman says they have responded as a unit to help people through severe weather events in recent years and are happy to put their shoulders to the wheel again.
