Leitrim environmental group concerned over possible fracking in Fermanagh

A Leitrim environmental group says it’s extremely worried at plans that could lead to fracking in Co Fermanagh.

Tamboran Resources has applied for a licence to evaluate the natural gas in the shale and sandstone rocks in the southwest of the county.

The company last attempted to carry out test-drilling in 2014, but there was widespread opposition.

In 2017, a historic Bill to ban onshore fracking in the Republic of Ireland passed through the Oireachtas.

Aedín McLoughlin, of the Good Energies Alliance, is very concerned at the Fermanagh scenario.
