Leitrim County Council praised for quick turnaround in planning application for 90-bed nursing home

Leitrim Independent councillor Enda Stenson is welcoming the quick turnaround in the County Council granting planning permission for a 90-bed nursing home in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Plans for the facility were resubmitted to the council in recent weeks after their original plans had been granted by the Council but overturned by An Bord Pleanala.

Leitrim council has granted permission with 17 conditions attached, including a €149,000 financial contribution towards public infrastructure and landscaping.

The new permission can be appealed again to An Bord Pleanala, and it’s understood that two objections were recorded on the application.

Councillor Enda Stenson says that with no progress on the promised new unit at St Patrick’s hospital in the town, this 90 bed private home is badly needed.
