A delegation from Leitrim County Council are set to hold a meeting with the Junior Housing minister this afternoon to discuss one-off housing in the county.
Issues with septic tanks and meeting acceptable EPA standards for the treatment of sewerage is seen as the biggest obstacle to people looking to build one-off homes in the county.
Cathaoirleach Enda McGloin, as well as several other Leitrim Councillors, are due to meet with Damien English at 1.30pm today in the Dail.
It’s understood they will discuss a proposal from Sinn Fein Leitrim TD Martin Kenny that would allow the council to grant a special licence to homes which would circumvent homes that may fail the percolation test.
A special Dail committee is set to debate the amendment next week.
