Leitrim Councillor unhappy with “too late” response by Irish Water to Drumsna woes

A Leitrim councillor says a commitment from Irish Water to replace a section of the Mountcampbell water main by early next year is “too little, too late”.

Independent Councillor Des Guckian says repeated bursts on the main over the past six months have caused havoc for householders and business owners alike, and the situation warrants emergency intervention rather than a promise about next year.

In a statement issued after the latest problems on the line last Friday, Irish Water says that it is a priority for them to replace the section of the main involved, and that a detailed assessment of the line will begin soon, with work expected to be finished early next year.

Councillor Des Guckian says this situation has not been treated seriously enough and it deserves much more urgent attention…
