Leitrim Councillor calls for urgent ring road to be developed for Carrick following traffic ‘mayhem’

A south-Leitrim Councillor believes Carrick-on-Shannon will not be able to develop as a key town in the north-west unless a by-pass or ring road is developed.

Enda Stenson has described as “mayhem” the volume of traffic in the town yesterday due in part to 3,000 spectators at a game in Avantcard Pairc Sean MacDiarmada

Normal traffic off the N4 added to traffic disruption in the town both before and after the game, with Leitrim County Council hearing calls at its monthly meeting today for an urgent traffic plan to be developed for the county town.


The local authority also heard from the Northern and Western Regional Assembly, who predict the town is set to grow by 30% in the next two decades.
