Leitrim B&B owner slams recruitment of customs officials

Border Businesses Against Brexit says time is running out to put plans in place to allay people’s fears of a hard Brexit.

Leitrim B&B owner JJ O’Hara says that without direction, it’s difficult for the over one hundred different business sectors that need to get a plan in place to make contingencies.

For example, according to JJ, Tourism Ireland, which markets Ireland overseas, is not sure of its funding going forward and this will have a serious knock-on effect for those who plan for up to two years before coming to Ireland.

JJ, who runs the Castle B&B outside Dromahair, says 1,000 new customs officials being recruited is worrying.
