Large drop in Shannonside region in uptake of HPV vaccine

There was a significant drop in the number of girls availing of the HPV vaccine across the Shannonside region in the last number of years.

According to figures published by the Department of Health the rate of HPV vaccines in Sligo-Leitrim dropped from 70.9 per-cent in 2015/2016 to 48.5 per-cent in 2016-2017.

The rate in Roscommon dropped from 67 per-cent to 48 per-cent during the same time period and in Longford-Westmeath dropped from 69.4per-cent to 48.5 per-cent


MMR take up across the region remained high with an average of 95% reported across all three counties.
