Juvenile arrested after four-car crash in Carrick

A teenage boy was arrested after yesterday’s four-car collision in Carrick-on-Shannon.

At 4.40pm, the vehicles collided at Highfield Terrace, Cortober, and the road was closed for about two hours, causing significant traffic problems.

It’s understood no one was seriously injured nor taken to hospital.


The Garda Press Office says a juvenile was arrested at the scene and taken to Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station for questioning, but has since been released.

It’s understood he was an occupant of one of the cars involved in the crash, but was not driving, while the matter remains under investigation.

The gardaí declined to say why the boy was arrested.
