IFA hopeful that local farmers will be consulted over design of new greenways

Farmers say they are satisified that the will have a seat at the table when it comes to the design stages of greenways.

The new strategy, launched in Moate at the weekend, stipulated that any plans would be devised in a ”co-design” format with affected farmers.

Proposed routes through east Galway for the coast to coast route from Dublin to Galway generated much controversy and further development of the scheme was shelved.

The new strategy is providing 53 million euro for groups including county councils to develop new greenways from 2019 to 2021.
