The one way traffic system put in place for Carrick on Shannon just over a month ago looks set to become a permanent feature.
The Chief Executive of Leitrim County Council Lar Power says they are very satsified with the new traffic flow despite some early teething problems.
He says the trial system had been put in place ahead of any works beginning on the urban renewal works so that pavements and kerb heights could be adjusted accordingly in the plans if the system worked.
The Leitrim Road, Main Street, Priests Lane and the link road between the fire station and the offices of the Department of Social protection are all one way as part of the system, and the council Chief Executive says they’ve been getting very positive feedback on it.
He says the council’s been engaging with the stakeholders as the system bedded in and he’s optimistic the new traffic flow will help ease congestion in the town.
