Newly elected TD for Sligo-Leitrim- North Roscommon Frank Feighan has called for unity among Irish people as part of any plans for ending partition.

The Boyle native secured the final seat in the north-west on Monday night after his running mate Thomas Walsh ‘s transfers pushed him above Fianna Fail’s Eamon Scanlon on the fifteenth and final count.

In his victory speech, the former Roscommon-South Leitrim TD hit out at Facebook trolls and claimed that what happens on the internet is not real life.

He also said that one of the best days in his life was the signing of the Anglo Irish agreement in 1985 and the subsequent Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
