Fire at Shannon Key West Hotel being treated as suspected arson attack

It’s understood last night’s fire in a Rooskey hotel is being treated as a suspected arson attack.

A blaze broke out at about 8pm in the Shannon Key West, which is earmarked for 80 asylum-seekers.

Informed sources suggest an incendiary device, was thrown in a rear window to start it.


The hotel remained sealed off as a crime scene late last night to allow for a forensic examination.

Roscommon Fire Service and the gardaí were at the incident for several hours.

No one was injured and it doesn’t appear significant damage was caused to the hotel.
