Event to mark the anniversary of Jimmy Gralton takes place this afternoon

An event to mark the anniversary of Jimmy Gralton’s return to Effernagh, Co Leitrim, in 1921 will take place this afternoon.

The man credited with setting up “Jimmy’s Hall” in the area was welcomed at the time with a crossroads dance by local people, a tradition that has resumed since 2013.

This year’s special guests include Senator Frances Black, Charlie McGettigan, Mick Blake, Seamie O’Dowd and many more.

The event, which will include a crossroad dance and will focus on asylum seekers, is organised by the Gralton Committee.
