Closure of businesses will be costly but necessary – Feighan

Hundreds of thousands of people aren’t going to their place of work this morning after new coronavirus restrictions came into force.

Theatres, clubs, marts and bingo halls are among a list of businesses that are now closed because of Covid-19.

However, factories and construction sites remain open but are being asked to put measures in place to allow for social distancing.

The Health and Safety Authority will be tasked with monitoring construction sites and their compliance with social distancing guidelines.

Sligo-Leitrim TD Frank Feighan admits that the measures will be costly.

However he feels that they will be vital if the country is to stay functioning.
