Chairman of Carrick flood group optimistic following visit of Minister

The Chairman of the Carrick-on-Shannon Flood Action Group says he is hopeful that flood protection for the town can be progressed properly.

Liam Farrell was speaking following a visit yesterday by Minister Kevin Boxer Moran to Co Leitrim.

Minister Moran met with council officials, local councillors and stakeholders in the council chambers sin Carrick-on-Shannon before going to other areas including Jamestown and Leitrim village.

Liam Farrell says while the flood action group aren’t impressed with plans to build a wall as part of the Carrick flood defences, he believes the Minister knows his brief very well and is open to consider the best options in each area…
