Carrigallen people will gather this evening to pray for missing Leitrim man

The people of Carrigallen will gather this evening to pray for the recovery of local man Cathal Whelan who is missing in the Cliften area of Galway.

The 23 year old is missing since this night last week, when he was socialising in the town.

Family, friends and Gardai have been searching the bay area of Clifden since Wednesday morning with the help of the RNLI and other search and rescue groups.

Father John Mc Mahon will celebrate a special mass in St Mary’s Church for Cathal and the Whelan family – beginning at half past seven.

Local area councillor, Paddy O’ Rourke who has along with Father McMahon and many in the community has travelled to Galway to help in the search, says it’s a tribute to the young man how many of his friends and peers have joined the effort.
