Another public meeting to rally support against the Lidl store planned for Carrick-on-Shannon will take place tonight.
The German supermarket giant has been refused planning permission by Leitrim County Council to develop a store at Attinfinlay, near rivals Tesco and Aldi.
It intends closing its existing store at Cortober, on the Roscommon side of Carrick.
Lidl is appealing against the council’s decision to An Bord Pleanála, with observations from the public invited before September 4th.
There has been widespread opposition to the new store, and another public meeting will take place in the Bush Hotel in Carrick tonight at 8 o’clock.
Colm McGrath is the president of Carrick-on-Shannon Chamber of Commerce.
