Carrick hotelier hopes Failte Ireland can help restore sector’s competitiveness

Carrick on Shannon hotelier Joe Dolan is hoping that Failte Ireland can effectively lobby the government to restore competitiveness within the tourism sector.

Mr Dolan has been appointed to the Board of the National Tourism Development Agency, by the Minister for Tourism Shane Ross.

Mr Dolan says it’s a crucial time for small businesses involved in the sector with Brexit looming, especially in the Midlands and North West, which draws up to 60% of its visitors from the UK.

As well as increasing funding to Failte Ireland and Tourism Ireland, Mr Dolan says he wants to use his position to impress on the government the need to address increasing costs such as insurance.
