Burglaries in Carrick-on-Shannon have doubled this year according to JPC

Burglaries in Carrick-on-Shannon have more than doubled this year.

At yesterday’s meeting of Leitrim’s joint policing committee, it was revealed that break-ins in the county are 91 per cent up on the same period in 2016.

There was an even bigger increase in Carrick – 144 per cent – while criminal-damage incidents in the town have risen by 34 per cent.

Colm McGrath, the president of the town’s chamber of commerce, is particularly concerned about the increase in burglaries.
