BREAKING: Two men charged with significant theft of cash in Carrick-on-Shannon

Two men, aged in their 20’s and 30’s, have been charged with theft of cash following an alleged surveillance at a bank in Main street, Carrick-on-Shannon, yesterday afternoon.

The two males, believed to be from Dublin, followed a businessman carrying a substantial amount of cash to Rosebank shopping centre where Tesco is situated.

The businessman left his car for a short time and when he returned, the car was broken into and the money was stolen.


Gardaí obtained CCTV footage of the suspected vehicle, and in a joint operation with Longford Gardaí, two male suspects were arrested near Longford at 3.30pm yesterday.

Gardaí have since recovered all of the money.

The two males, will appear at a special sitting of Sligo District Court at 8pm this evening.
