A Leitrim councillor says he hopes Bord na Mona may be willing to give some of the narrow gauge rail line currently being lifted in the region to the local authority or a community group.
Enda Stenson has been reviving the idea of reopening the old narrow gauge rail line between Dromod and Mohill in Leitrim.
The reopening of the rail line has been raised on previous occasions at council level, and a voluntary committee was set up in the late 90's to examine the feasibility of the project.
Councillor Stenson says that while it would obviously take a large amount of funds to reopen the train route it would be no harm to see if Bord na Mona might donate some rail line.
