Almost ten Irish language complaints recorded in Leitrim last year

Leitrim was one of nine counties last year in which issues relating to the Irish language were reported to an official government complaints body

According to the annual report from the Oifig an Cominiséir Teanga, 1.3 percent, or just under 10 complaints of all issues raised with the Commission about Irish language issues were recorded in Leitrim.

The figure is a slight drop on figures reported in 2015, which recorded a complaint rate of 1.6 percent.

The largest number of complaints in the annual report relates to the implementation of commitments made by public bodies in statutory language schemes agreed under Section 11 of the Official Languages Act.
