Up to 1,000 people take part in solidarity march with QIH in Derrylin

A large crowd turned out in Derrylin this afternoon in solidarity with Quinn Industrial Holdings Director Kevin Lunney.

The 50-year-old was abducted, assaulted and left on the side of the road in Cavan on Tuesday night.

In a statement, the staff of QIH said an attack on Mr Lunney is an attack on the entire community, and that those carried out the acts do not represent them.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound News, DUP Leader Arlene Foster said the community is standing together.

Gardai and the PSNI are continuing to investigate the assault, with a number of searches carried out in Cavan today.

Speaking in Cavan, Deputy Commissioner John Twomey assured local Garda management of the full support of the Garda Organisation going forward.

QBRC Chairman John McCartan told Shannonside Northern Sound News there’s a frustration at the lack of arrests in relation to the ongoing incidents, but acknowledged the difficulty in policing cross border crimes.
