The head of the western Garda Division’s Roads Policing unit says he is shocked by the number of young people who do not wear seatbelts when driving.

Gardai across the Shannonside/NorthernSound region are in the middle of a major clampdown on the most common road traffic offences such as mobile phone use and speeding this Easter weekend.Drivers have been warned to expect Garda checkpoints on all major routes this weekend, after 8 people lost their lives on roads over the same holiday weekend in the last five years.
