Local Green Councillor urges government to look at alternatives to ease inflation fears

The cost of fuel remains very high for many families.

A local Green Party Councillor believes an urgent investment in cycleways and safe walkways could help ease the burden of the fuel crisis for many families and households.

The government has refused to delay the introduction of the carbon tax next month, despite inflation and the war in Ukraine seeing a major rise in the cost of fuel and living.

Louise Heavin is a Green Party Councillor in Athlone-Moate.

She told the Joe Finnegan Show that people want to move away from using their cars all the time, but simply can't because there are no alternatives:
