At Tuesday’s meeting of Granard Municipal District, Fine Gael councillor Micheál Carrigy expressed concern that repair work that the water utility had planned would not go ahead in the fourth quarter of this year.

He says that a 1.2 kilometre piece of water main on the road had repeatedly burst this year, causing flood damage to some properties.

He wants Irish Water to urgently meet the six Granard councillors and ensure that the work is fast-tracked.
