Gala's Inspirational Hero Awards honours five people across the region

The Gala award honours Ireland's unsung heroes.

Five individuals have been honoured as part of Gala's Inspirational Hero Awards.

The accolades shine a light on those who make Ireland a better place with their selfless acts and inspirational deeds.

In Roscommon, 17 year old Katie Heneghan was recognised for her bravery, living with a very rare medical condition.

In Leitrim, Stradbally's Kathleen Sheridan was awarded for her community work with the Junior Park Run and local national school.

16 year old Ruby O'Kelly from Cavan raised over 5,000 euro for the National children's cancer charity and she also performed at various online charity events during the pandemic for free.

Monaghan's Gary Wilson was nominated for his commitment to his local GAA club in Toome.

While in Longford Shane Crossan was recognised for his work promoting positivity through community schemes with ethnic minorities.

Gala Retail has gifted €26,000 of prizes to the winners with the 26 county champions being awarded with a €1000 hotel getaway across Ireland.
