Flood levels on the River Shannon receding, water users told

Water users have been advised by Waterways Ireland that flood levels on the Shannon are receding.

Operations staff are reportedly preparing the jetties, quays, slipways and facilities for reactivation as the floods recede.

According to a statement from Waterways Ireland, it will take up to three weeks for things to be fully operational.

Flood damage may also be encountered in some locations and access to jetties can be difficult as gangways and pontoons are elecated.

They’ve also advised masters of vessels that surfaces may be slippery and that they should proceed with additional caution while clean-up work is ongoing.
