Every Irish household to pay TV licence, even if they don’t have a TV

Every household in Ireland will have to pay a licence fee, even if they don’t have a TV.

A Dail report on the future of public service broadcasting suggests a household charge that factors in laptops and tablets, while a ‘culture tax’ would be imposed on internet service providers.

According to the Irish Independent, there’s also an indication that the current fee could increase from € 160 to € 175.

Ireland has the highest licence fee evasion rate in Europe, costing around € 40 million a year.
