EU leaders have agreed to extend Brexit until May 22nd – the day before European elections start.
But it’s conditioned on the UK passing the withdrawal deal next month.
This is clearly a move designed to ramp up pressure on MPs to vote for it.
But it might not work.
And if the deal doesn’t pass all bets are off.
There could be a no deal Brexit. There could be a vote of no confidence in Theresa May’s government. There could be a long Brexit extension. Or a second referendum. Or it may stop Brexit from happening at all.
One things for sure, it will be one of the biggest weeks in British political history.
