N55 Main St BallymahonThere is a huge boost to Ballymahon this week with the news that the town is to stage the 2017 Leinster Fleadh Ceoil.

This event only comes to Longford once every 12 years and it is estimated that it will lead to a boost of up to €150,000 to the local economy.

Up to 3,500 competitors will converge on Ballymahon for the three-day competition, which will take place on the 14th, 15th and 16th of July.

Ballymahon beat Longford town in the contest to stage the event.
