Axe current Carrick bypass plans – Stenson

bridge-carrick-on-shannon-tourism-holidays-water-AN The current plans for a bypass of Carrick on Shannon should be shelved.

According to Councillor Enda Stenson, plans developed for the extension of the N4 from Jamestown through are no longer viable.

He maintains that the town has not realised the jobs potential forecast during the celtic tiger and it would not be sustainable without a certain volume of traffic travelling close to the town.

While there are no arguments over the need to reduce congestion through the bridge in the town, Councillor Stenson suggests that a ring road closer to the town, on the Hartley/Carracastle side would be more appropriate.
