A 20 year old Lithuanian man has been remanded in custody in connection with the seizure of almost 600,000 euro worth of cannabis plant at a house in Frenchpark, yesterday.
As part of an intelligence led operation, divisional drugs officers in Roscommon/Longford seized 139 cannabis plants along with 22 and a half kilos of vacuum packed cannabis herb.
Mantas Dervini of Carton Beg, Frenchpark appeared at Roscommon District Court this afternoon charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis for sale or supply under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Acting for Mr Dervini, solicitor Ivan Moran stated that his client is having some difficulty with braces on his teeth and asked that a dental assessment be undertaken by prison authorities.
Judge James Faughnan granted that the accused be granted medical and dental treatment and remanded Mr Dervini in custody to Castlerea prison to appear at Harristown District court tomorrow.
